Capturing Solar Installs from Start to Finish
Throughout 2023, I visited solar arrays across Massachusetts and one near Albany, New York, creating content for CVE North America. My Reel Quest Films Partner, Ryan Smith, and I made multiple trips to a new installation in Albany, capturing drone and timelapse footage from before they broke ground through the completion of the array construction. We did a similar project for them at the above array in New Marlborough, MA back in 2020 (blog post here: https://ecophotography.com/time-lapse-and-drone-video-of-a-large-scale-solar-array-installation/). Here’s the video we completed this year:
Photos of nine solar arrays from the ground up
My photo trips for CVE included capturing still photos of 9 installations – drone and ground-based shots of the panels themselves, as well as the native pollinator plantings growing around the panels. At each site I was trying to capture the size of the installations, primarily via drone perspectives, in addition to the beautiful pollinator gardens on the ground.
A lot of solar energy
It was exciting to see so many renewable energy projects up and running, and after this project I connected with another company in the renewable energy space, Syso Technologies, filming a video for them in Brooklyn, NY in October. You can read about their cool technology over on my Reel Quest Films projects page: https://reelquestfilms.com/project/syso-technologies-website-video/.
