This view south towards the White Mountains from North Percy Peak in New Hampshire’s Nash Stream State Forest will be negatively impacted if Northern Pass is constructed. (Jerry Monkman)

Those of you who have watched my film, The Power of Place, are familiar with the story of Northern Pass, an ill-conceived electricity transmission line proposed for New Hampshire. I first shot footage related to Northern Pass in 2011, and released the film in 2015, and the Northern Pass project has still not been approved (and I hope it won’t.) Last week, the New Hampshire Public Utility Commission gave Northern Pass approval to cross state lands at 61 different locations from Pittsburg to Deerfield, including in the Nash Stream State Forest. This does not give final approval to the project and there is still a good chance the project can be stopped. For more details, please visit the update I just made to the film’s Kickstarter page.
