Fall Foliage Workshop in Acadia National Park

I’m sorry but this workshop has been cancelled due to the US Govt. Shutdown and the closing of National Parks.
Adjacent to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine

When: 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 11, 2013 through noon on Monday, October 14, 2013

Cost: Register before August 11th to receive the early bird price of $600.00. After August 11, 2013 the fee is $675.00. Fee includes instruction, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and entrance fees to Acadia National Park.

Who should attend: Beginner and intermediate photographers wanting to learn the specifics of photographing fall foliage, while shooting in some of Acadia’s most scenic locations.

Maximum Group Size: 10

Description: This workshop is based in Bar Harbor, Maine, just minutes from some of the best photo locations in Acadia National Park. We will spend approximately 2 hours per day inside learning how to get the best images possible from your cameras.  The rest of our time will be spent exploring nearby locales and photographing Acadia’s iconic coastline, as well as fall foliage in both forested and mountain landscapes.  Specific shooting locations for each day will be determined the night before based on weather forecasts and foliage conditions. Though we won’t be doing any strenuous hiking, you may be expected to walk up to two miles with up to 200 feet of elevation gain. The workshop schedule will be flexible so that we can be out shooting in the best light possible for the subject matter. Jerry will draw on his twenty years of experience shooting in Acadia National Park and his experience in writing his three books about the park when determining the best photo locations.

Lectures will be held at the Atlantic Oceanside Resort in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Lodging: Participants are not required to stay at the Atlantic Oceanside, but they are offering group participants the special rate or $199/night. To receive this rate, you must call the hotel (800-336-2463) to make your reservation and tell them you are part of the EcoPhotography workshop. Numerous camping and lodging options are available in the area. For other lodging suggestions, e-mail Jerry at nature@ecophotography.com.

Meals: Lunches on Saturday and Sunday are included with the workshop fee and will be provided either as bag lunches or in local restaurants, depending on our shooting schedule for the day. Breakfasts and dinners are not included in the workshop fee, but participants will have the opportunity to eat these meals with the group or own their own.

Transportation: Participants are required to provide their own transportation. A six passenger van will be available to the group for local transportation during the workshop, but since this workshop has a maximum of ten participants, you may be asked to drive your own vehicle during parts of the workshop.

Payment: A $300.00 deposit is required at registration. Six weeks before the workshop, you will be sent an invoice for the remainder of the workshop fee, which is due one month prior to the start of the workshop.

Cancellations: If you cancel prior to August 11, 2013, your full deposit will be refunded. If you cancel between August 12, 2013 and September 12, 2013, you will be refunded 50% of your deposit. No refunds are made for cancellations made after September 12, 2013. EcoPhotography reserves the right to cancel the workshop if less than four people register by August 11, 2013. If EcoPhotography cancels the workshop, any payments you have made will be refunded in full.

Registration: To register, please click on the Buy Now button, which will take you to PayPal where you can pay by credit card or with your PayPal account. To pay by mail, please call to confirm your seat in the workshop, then send a check made out to EcoPhotography for $300.00 to P.O. Box 424, Portsmouth, NH 03802. 1. Jerry,

You may remember me from your Cape Cod workshop a year ago; I was the one you couldn’t pry out of the shotgun seat for three days. If that doesn’t call up a memory of my grizzled countenance, and perhaps a little chill, then check your Google Circles for a refresher. Scary isn’t it.

Anyway it has finally turned to spring in the Great White North, although it did snow just a few days ago, and an old-ish man’s thoughts turn to autumn in New England. I know that skips a lot of months but being one who is given to pudge I don’t have a lot of fondness for summer. All this of course is leading up to me taking your Fall Foliage workshop in Acadia, if none of the above has been sufficient to put you off that is. Say no and I’ll understand, I’ll be shattered but I’d get over it.

To that end I already submitted through PayPal.Hope you will accept the job of teaching the photographically challenged.

  2. Couldn’t forget you Michael:) Looking forward to having your friendly countenance, good humor, and excellent pictures along for the ride in Acadia!

  3. I believe sir that your pants may in fact be on fire… but I look forward to seeing you in October, and remember I will be giving up the real Thanksgiving, Canadian Thanksgiving, so there better be a turkey dinner available somewhere in Bar Harbor.

  4. Hi there. I am interested in this photo workshop – but I am not sure if I really “qualified” – I have a Canon T3i with an 18-55 and a 55-250 lens as well as a tripod. I really need to get more comfortable with composition and shooting in different light (it’s not always practical to shoot sunrise/sunset). Please advise. Thanks, Jen 🙂

    • Hi Jen,

You should fit right in. This workshop usually has a mix of skill levels, from beginner to advanced intermediate. A camera, a couple of lenses, and a tripod is definitely enough gear to enjoy the trip. And while I certainly espouse shooting during the “golden hours” of the day, I will discuss shooting in other types of light as well.

  5. I am actually interested in giving this as a gift to my wife for her birthday. If you have time, please call me at your earliest convenience to discuss some inquiries I have. I’d like to book this ASAP! Thanks, Jay 1-813-943-9902

    • Jesus – I’m sorry that I have to report that I’ve cancelled this workshop due to the government shutdown and the closing of Acadia National Park.
